At this stage we don’t. We only offer online courses but if there is enough interest we will consider holding live in person courses. Our courses are also limited in size to no more than 12-15 participants to ensure that participants have plenty of opportunity to engage in the process and we have built in plenty of time for questions and answers.
Can more than person attend the course?
Obviously we cannot monitor how many people may be watching the screen at your end however it is a term of the booking that only one person participates (attends) the course unless we have agreed otherwise. If you would like more people to attend please let as know and we can agree a discounted price for multiple attendees.
Can you advise us about our specific case?
Unfortunately no. The aim of the course is not to provide legal advice but is purely educational with the aim being to equip participants with the knowledge and skills that will assist them in conducting their own cases. Whilst we often discuss real world case studies we cannot and do not provide any advice about and cannot discuss specific cases.
Do I need any pre-requisite knowledge of experience in law or court cases?
Absolutely not. Our courses are designed to assist those with no prior experience of the court system taking participants through every stage of civil litigation and advocacy. Our courses are also of benefit to those with experience of the justice system too as our trainers spend considerable time on the traps and pitfalls for the unwary litigant. This “inside” view of litigation is crucial for all participants whether novices or seasoned litigators.
What type of litigation areas do your courses cover?
Our shorter Small Claims Guru course is aimed at people and businesses who are involved in or at thinking of starting a small claim in the County Court.
Our Civil Litigation Essentials course is more comprehensive aimed at people litigating in the County Courts and to a lesser extent the High Court although less emphasis is placed on the particular rules that apply to Small Claims matters. The course focuses on matters and procedure relating to typical claims for money, proprietary claims or injunctive relief. The obvious time restraints dictates that we can only touch on specialist proceedings in the High Court, such as insolvency and company matters, that have their own specialised procedure, but as the Civil Procedure Rules still apply to those cases participants will still find much useful assistance in our course.
What do I need to bring to the course?
Only yourself. We with provide you with all course materials.
Is there any pre-reading required?
It is not essential although we do provide some advanced reading material.
What are the hours of the courses?
Our Civil Litigation Essential courses start with registration at 8.45am and commence at 9:00 until about 5:00 pm with a break for lunch at 1:00pm.
Our Small Claims Guru courses run from either 9am to 12.00 or from 2.00pm to 5pm.
Will I be competent to conduct my own litigation after attending your course/s?
Obviously the courses cannot teach in a single day what it takes lawyers many years to learn, however we have carefully designed our courses to help you understand and manage your own cases far more effectively. We particularly focus on assisting our participants with practical matters that often trap the unwary litigant.
Do you provide a certificate on completion of the courses?
